Taste of the Wild Dog Food

Hello Everyone,

Today, I would like to take the time to review Taste of the Wild dog food. I received a generous sample from Ms. Loganbill for trial and review purposes.  Taste of the Wild can be located at: http://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/  or on Facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/tasteofthewildpetfood

Here is an excerpt taken from their website:

"Taste of the Wild produces premium, grain-free pet formulas that are based on your pet’s ancestral diet. All of our formulas rely on ingredients like quality meats and probiotics that maximize the nutritional health benefits for your pets."

"Your pets crave a taste of the wild. Go ahead and give them one."

I received the following samples:

My partner in this review is "Shadow", my female German Shepherd/Border Collie mix.

The first sample package Shadow tried was the: Pine Forest Canine Formula with Venison & Legumes.

The Venison & Legume formula has the following list of ingredients (in order): Venison, lamb meal, garbanzo beans, peas, lentils, pea protein, pea flower, ....etc.  As you can see, the #1 ingredient is meat! There are also no grains/fillers. Also including in this formula is a large quantity of vitamins, minerals, and other healthy nutrients.  Shadow enjoyed this sample very much, as she ate the sample "as is" right out of the bag. She usually waits to have wet/canned food added in to her dry food.

The next sample that Shadow tried was: Wetlands Canine Formula w/Roasted Fowl.

The ingredients for the Roasted Fowl are as follows (in order): Duck, duck meal, chicken meal, sweet potatoes, peas, potatoes, chicken fat, etc... Again, the #1 ingredient is real meat! The Roasted Fowl formula is also full of essential vitamins and minerals.  Shadow enjoyed the Roasted Fowl as much as the Venison & Legume formula. She ate this sample straight from the bag, with no added flavorings or food items.

The next formula to be sampled was the; Sierra Mountain Canine Formula w/Roasted Lamb.

The ingredients for the Roasted Lamb (in order) are as follows: Lamb, lamb meal, sweet potatoes, peas, canola oil, egg product, roasted lamb, tomato pomace, natural flavor, etc...Keeping true to the other two samples, - real meat is again the #1 ingredient! As with the other two samples, Shadow again enjoyed this formula and ate this sample dry, without any food/flavor additives in her bowl.

  • Prebiotic Fiber
  • Roasted Lamb
  • Omega Fatty Acid Blend

Finally, we finish with the: High Prairie Canine Formula with Bison & Roasted Venison.

The ingredient listing (in order) for this formula is: Bison, lamb meal, chicken meal, sweet potatoes, peas, potatoes, canola oil, egg product, beef, roasted venison, natural flavors...etc. Again, we find that meat is the #1 ingredient. This formula is also chock full of essential vitamins and minerals. I was surprised that Shadow did not seem too interested in this formula. She ate a few pieces of kibble, and then left the rest. I would have thought that having bison and venison, this would have been one of her favorite samples. After seeing Shadow's reaction to the dry sample, I added wet food and she did consume more of the product.

In my top photo, there are 5 products in the picture, and I have only done four individual sample reviews. This is because the 5th sample turned out to be a cat food sample. Since I do not own a cat, I will be giving this sample to a friend. :)
