Today, I have another subscription box for review, although this time it is not for my consumption. My German Shepherd/Collie mix female, Shadow will be indulging in the goodies, as PupJoy is a subscription box for dogs! :)
PupJoy can be visited by going to: http://www.pupjoy.com
When I received the PupJoy box, I knew this service was going to be a cut above the rest (details coming). This box isn't the ordinary square, brown, plain cardboard box you usually expect to see. What is especially nice about the shape of this box, is that it fits inside a standard sized mailbox! No need to wait for a delivery person to come to your door.
Here is an up close picture of the Welcome paper:
Here are a few close up photos of what was inside this box and a description of each:
Be Pawsitive – Oven Baked Dog Biscuits
Bepawsitive.com , /likebepawsitive (FB)
“Our Treats do more than reward your pup. They also help bring happiness to dogs in need of a little extra love. We created Be Pawsitive to wag more tails – at home and in animal shelters across the country. While your dog enjoys this bag of healthy, delicious treats, know that a shelter dog without a family is doing the same. Thanks to you.”
Cheese Pizza flavor:
Certified Ingredients: organic barley flour, organic tomato powder, organic
dried tomatoes, organic ground flax seeds, organic olive oil, organic cheddar
cheese, organic basil.
Shadow is enjoying these treats. The bag is a generous size and will last for numerous treat giving occasions.
Ewegurt Lemon Grass Scented Dog Soap
I need to give a warning about this soap up front. If you or your dog have any fragrance sensitivities, you may want/need to avoid this product. The lemon scent is very strong, even after taking the soap out of the box and letting it sit in a good size room. Having said this, I am looking forward to trying this soap on Shadow when the weather permits and is a bit warmer.
Jack For Joy
"Made of durable SAN, a non-toxic plastic, this molded one piece construction pet toy is shatterproof and chip proof. There are no sharp edges to ever harm teeth or gums. The Jack for Joy is designed to last and will stand up to endless hours of rough and tumble play.Built to last.Fun to fetch.Easy to clean."
I'm not sure if Shadow didn't like the shape, hard plastic, or both - but she didn't seem too interested in this toy. She sniffed at it a couple times, and that was the end of the Jack for Joy experience. :( I do think this toy is a neat idea, as it is very durable and can not be swallowed.

Woodys Goodys - Peanut Butter With Bacon
This was Shadow's ABSOLUTE favorite product in the box. When I pulled a treat out of the bag, she immediately came up to me wanting to sample them. I have to admit, I even had to take a small nibble, as these smell absolutely delicious! They smell like peanut butter cookies that are fresh out of the oven. They taste pretty good from a human perspective too. :) You can definitely taste the PB and a small hint of bacon. I will need to contact the company and see if they offer a "bulk" sized bag!
Billy Wolf - Shed Antler Chews
(picture copied from website)
It is hard to tell Shadow's take on the antler chew. She keeps picking it up, getting interested in it, chews/licks it a few times, and then leaves it. This happened for a couple of different cycles. She has yet to really "get into" a serious chew session. I'm not sure if the antler may be a bit too hard for her liking. Although Shadow is "touch and go" with this product, it seems to be very well made and is a nice proportion for both big and small dogs!
About PupJoy
Now that you have seen the "goodies" in the box, I would like to take the time to tell you about the company itself. PupJoy is the ONLY dog subscription box that I have seen so far, that lets you customize almost every aspect of your box (sans picking out the products yourself). Let me show you a few examples of what you get to choose when picking a subscription box:
First of all, you can tell PupJoy if this is a gift box, or a box for yourself. Next, you have the choice of selecting a box size. "Uno" is for 1 dog, and sends 4-5 items. "Grande" is for multiple dogs or for dogs who love treats and goodies. This box will send 5-7 items.
Next, you get to pick the type of box. You can pick a combination of treats, toys, and accessories; toys and accessories, or treats only.
You can get even more detailed by selecting the type of treats! You can choose all natural, grain sensitive, protein sensitive, or organic. PupJoy has an answer for all of your sensitivity needs.
In regards to the toy preferences, you can choose Egalitarian - which is a combination of rugged/indestructible toys and soft/"squishy" toys. The Inquisitive box will contain items that your curious pup can not destroy so easily. And the sensitive box is geared more toward the soft/plush type items.
After you have made all of those choices, you then get to tell PupJoy what size your dog is, so they can send products that match your dog's size and weight category.
After you have finished selecting the choices for your pup's box, you can then choose how often and how many boxes you wish to receive. You are definitely not stuck to one box a month here!
If all these choices don't "tickle your fancy" - I think that there are a couple of more things that need to be mentioned about PupJoy that will! PupJoy also has a "Helping Paws" program:
I love to see businesses that give back! I am a volunteer for a local German Shepherd Rescue, and this "Helping Paws" program is huge in my book. Rescues, shelters, and other organizations need all the help they can get! Are you "wow'ed" by PupJoy yet? ...well, PupJoy hasn't forgotten about the humans either! Check this out:
Not only does your pup get awesome goodies, that you have so much control and say so over what you can select, PupJoy gives back to animals and humans in need as well! If this doesn't make you feel good about supporting a subscription service, ....I don't know what will. Again, it is great to see a company with a humanitarian side (so rare these days it seems).
I think PupJoy says it best:
While you are visiting PupJoy and getting pawsome treats, toys, and other goodies for your pup, don't forget to stop by the "Pupshop" : https://pupjoy.com/shop/all/ to complement your order with a huge selection of dog beds, harnesses, leashes, collars, clothing accessories, and so much more!
I know this is probably a lot of information, so let me recap with the highlights of PupJoy:
- Monthly prices ranging from $23 - $44 (good for any budget)
- The world’s only personalized artisan dog box (allows you to get what you need, when you need it)

- A socially conscious company who supports small US businesses and helps you give back with programs supporting animal rescue and breast cancer.
- I'd also like to add that the customer response time to emails is very, very fast!
So, if you're still "on the fence" about PupJoy (and I'm not sure why you would be after reading this review and seeing all the options you have and the good they do), let me leave you with this:
Shadow and I would like to give a HUGE Thank You to Dustin McAdams and PupJoy for their time and generosity in sending this box to us! :)
PupJoy did not pay me to write this review. They did send me free products to sample and review. This review is in no way biased, and all of the statements are 100% my own.
